With the Document Generation functionality, you can create dynamic DOCX tables pre-filled with data from a source document and add fillable fields so your recipients can fill in the necessary information. Use specific fillable field tags that will be converted to fillable fields once a PDF document is generated from DOCX.

Tip: A dynamic DOCX table automatically adjusts by adding or removing rows to fit the amount of data provided.

You can assign roles to the tables and allow users to easily add or edit the added text in generated PDF documents.

Note: You can only assign roles to entire columns, not individual fields within the table.

Use case example: An HR department is intended to collect new hires' email addresses and start dates for onboarding purposes. The list of new employees is automatically pulled from an internal web form and should be pre-filled into a dynamic DOCX table. The rest of the document will be completed manually by the HR department or new hires.

Follow these steps to ensure your DOCX dynamic table works smoothly:

1. First, add the document that contains the data to pre-fill the DOCX table (a web form with a one-column table in the current example). This data will determine the number of rows.

2. Upload your DOCX file with the table to the workflow or create it from scratch using the online editor. Ensure the dynamic table has specific tags that will be converted into fillable fields after generating the PDF document.

3. Configure the Pre-fill from doc to doc bot to populate the dynamic DOCX table with data from a completed web form. When in Data mapping, connect the source document fields to DOCX table fields that should be populated.

Once the required settings have been made, you can create documents.

Result: HR first fills out the web form with the names of the newly hired employees.

Once the web form is completed and the bot runs, a PDF will be generated with the number of rows in the table corresponding to the number of new hires. The specific tags for creating fillable fields will convert into fillable fields (email and start date in the example) and be ready for HR or new hires to fill out.
