Upload files to the document placeholder

Learn how to upload files into document placeholders within your workflow.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

When a document package is sent, process participants can upload their own files to the document placeholder as part of completing the package.

  1. When you reach the placeholder step, select Upload and choose a DOCX or PDF file from your device.

  2. The file is converted to PDF and opens for review.

  3. Verify that fillable fields are correctly overlaid — then proceed to send.

Once uploaded, the document will open in the PDF editor.

If an uploaded document contains fillable fields, they will be available to users who have access to this document to complete them. These users will also be able to edit the fillable fields previously completed by other users.

If a file uploaded to a document placeholder contains any required fillable fields, users won’t be able to leave this file without completing them.

Note: Fillable fields of documents uploaded to the document placeholder won’t be available for assigning roles.

When you’ve finished editing, the document will become a document in the current revision.

Tip: If uploaded files contain fillable field tags, they will display in the PDF document but won’t be available for editing in the current version.
